FAQs
We have a professional management company. Do our board members still need education?
Yes. Your board hires the management company and is ultimately responsible for the management of your association. It is your responsibility to be informed about laws, community association issues and budgeting, even if you are not responsible for daily management activities.

What is the CIC Certification Program?
CCAM, Certified Community Association Manager, is a professional designation which you can earn by taking the CCAM course and passing the examination. It is designed for both professional managers and association board members. You can take only the modules that interest you, or you can take the entire course and the examination.

We are a self-managed association and have frequent turnover of board members. How do we make sure the new people are qualified to manage our association?
CIC offers free board training seminars several times each year. This is a way to familiarize your new board members with their duties and responsibilities. You will also want to budget for continuing board education. Send your board members to CCAM seminars and the CIC Luncheon Speaker Meetings. Learning about community association laws, budgeting, and effective management reduces your association's risk and gives your board a common ground for management.

If I'm a member of MHA, do I join CIC separately?
Yes, if you are a homeowner or professional manager of a CIC. No, if you are a product/service member. As a product/service member, your dues entitle you to membership in both MHA and CIC.
