Critical Business Preparedness Plans due June 29

On Friday, June 5th, Governor Walz issued an Executive Order (EO 20-74) which allows businesses whose workers qualified for a Critical Sector exemption to continue operating in the same manner provided in EO 20-48. EO 20-74 requires all Critical Businesses to develop and implement a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan by June 29, 2020. Such plans must comply with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) COVID-19 guidelines and OSHA standards.

Eviction Moratorium Extension

Eviction Moratorium Extension
Governor Walz announced yesterday that he will extend the peacetime emergency order for another 30 days. The current order is set to expire on Friday, June 12. The extension of the peacetime emergency will also extend the Eviction Moratorium for another 30 days.

Rental Assistance Committee Hearings

Rental Assistance Committee Hearings

Yesterday, Housing Committees in both the House and Senate heard competing bills related to rental assistance funding. The House version dedicates $100 million toward rental assistance and supplements language in the Governor’s Eviction Moratorium Executive Order. The Senate version includes $30 million for rental assistance and provides an ending for the Eviction Moratorium of 60-days plus an optional 30-day extension by the Governor.
