Sometimes a situation becomes potentially dangerous regardless of how skillful a practitioner is in nonverbal and verbal de-escalation. In these situations, safety becomes the primary concern and may include calling for help, while still approaching the situation through the lens of de-escalation as the stress response subsides.
This course takes a closer look at setting limits without having them sound like threats, basic protective strategies, and ways to rebuild the relationship after an incident. The session concludes with self-care following a crisis and the importance of a debriefing protocol.
