On May 22, 2026, HUD issued guidance indicating that it would not pursue or prosecute fair housing complaints related to emotional support animals. This guidance has created confusion among residential housing providers. Attend this session to learn the status of emotional support animals under the federal Fair Housing Act, other federal law, and state law. Learn whether this guidance should change any of your practices and procedures with regard to emotional support animals and service animals. Spoiler alert . . . ESAs are still a thing!
